When we say “speak for”, generally it’s for something we know very well. For instance, I used this product and I really like it, so I speak for it. But Core Socialist Values? When it comes to this, I think many people would say: “To me, Core Socialist Values are just terminologies in the textbook. Though I heard it on the TV every day, but I don’t think it has anything to do with my life, so I can hardly speak for it. ” I understand them, as I was one of them before. 

What changed my mind is my mother’s experience. My mother is an art instructor. She was appointed to do some propagandizing [prɒpə'gændaɪz] works a month ago, and the theme, coincidentally [kəu,insi'dentli], is “the Core Socialist Values”. One day, my mother and her colleagues were painting the pictures on the wall, when a young man came and stood there, for a long time staring at the wall. The picture my mother was working on is about taking good care of our parents, and the slogan reads: "Give your parents a phone call every week.” When my mother finished her work and about to leave, the man suddenly turned his head, and said: “Once a week is too few anyway.” As I recall, my mother was very surprised then. You know, there is no shortage of people who neglect their parents’ needs after they entered their adulthood. So she never expect people would pay attention. Not only that, she was once afraid of being criticized by residents for messing up their house. 

See, the so called Core Socialist Values are not mere twelve phrases. It can provokes the kindness deep berried in our heart. Therefor I speak for Core Socialist Values, not because it’s a theory currently being advanced, but for its grace.
