1. Food in different cultures

People in different countries cook various  kinds of food. The historical, geographical and climate features of where they live and their ways of life influence their cuisines.

We are what we eat, and we choose food to suit our ways of life.

2. Useful words and expressions

(1) love, enjoy and prefer
love

喜爱、喜欢
e.g. We loved the food so much，especially the fish dishes.
enjoy

欣赏、享受、喜爱

e.g. He was a guy who enjoyed life to the full.
prefer

更喜欢或者是愿意
e.g. Does he prefer a particular sort of music?

(2) traditional food 传统的食品
关于传统食品的两个短语：a traditional Chinese food, 一种中国的传统食品; eat traditional Chinese food, 吃传统的中国食品。
e.g. I just don't get it why all the kids prefer western food to traditional food.

(3) fast food

快餐、速食，比方说汉堡包、比萨饼、炸鸡等等
e.g. Many people，especially the youth and kids like fast foods very much，some of them even declare fast food is more tasteful than Chinese food.

(4) balanced nutrition 均衡的营养

balanced diet  营养均衡的食谱
e.g. If you have a balanced diet，you are getting all the vitamins you need.

(5) treat

指的是请客或者是款待, to buy or pay for something for another person

e.g. Put your money away .I'm going to treat you to this.
